What is Brand24? A paid tool that searches public posts for your keywords

Brand24 is a web service for social listening, which means collecting what people publicly say about a brand, product or topic and summarizing it. Its terms name the operator as Brand24 Global Inc., of Daytona Beach, Florida. You open a project, enter the words you want to track, and the service gathers public mentions from the sources it covers into one dashboard.

The vendor's home page describes monitoring of social media, news, blogs, videos, forums, podcasts and reviews, and claims more than 25 million online sources and 108 languages. Projects, keywords and mentions in plain terms

• Project: a container for the keywords you track together. The help center suggests separate projects per competitor if you want to compare them, and one project if you mainly want to work through a single stream of mentions.
• Keyword: any word or phrase to track. The help center lists single words, phrases, hashtags, short links and domains as keywords that work well, and lists full URLs, email addresses, very long phrases and generic words as ones to avoid.
• Mention: one monitoring result, such as a social post, blog post, forum post or news article, that contains a tracked keyword. Each plan has a monthly limit on mentions.
• Language: you pick one language or all of them when creating a project, and the help center notes that a mention limit applies per project.

What Brand24 reports once mentions arrive

The features page describes sentiment analysis that labels mentions positive, negative or neutral, reach and share-of-voice figures, topic analysis, anomaly detection for sudden spikes, emotion analysis and an AI assistant that answers questions about the data in a project. The plan comparison lists daily and weekly reports, storm alerts for sudden changes in volume, mobile push notifications, Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations, and exports to Excel, PDF and PowerPoint.

What it collects and what it leaves out

• Public content only: the help center says that if you can see a post in a private browser window, Brand24 will most likely collect it.
• From setup onward: a project starts with a sample of the last 30 days and then follows new posts. Older history is outside the standard service, according to the help center.
• Facebook and Instagram: the help center keeps separate guides for data from these two networks.
• Not a publishing tool: the plan comparison lists monitoring, analysis, reporting and alerts. Scheduling and posting are a separate job handled by social media management tools, which these guides leave out.

Who it is built for, according to the vendor

The features page names marketers, PR professionals, agencies and SaaS companies as its main audiences, and the home page says it is used by more than 4000 brands of all sizes. Those user counts are the vendor's claims. A small business that only wants to know when its name appears on the web may not need the full dashboard, because free alerts cover part of that job.
