Brand24 review: what it collects, where the limits are and who it fits

A review of Brand24, the paid social listening tool, read from its own pages: sources, keyword and mention limits, the 14-day trial and who can start free.

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-24

Quick answerBrand24 is a paid social listening tool that collects public mentions of the keywords you choose from social networks, news, blogs, forums and reviews. It suits a team that wants reports, sentiment and alerts in one place. Its entry plan caps keywords and monthly mentions, so a business with one name to watch may be served by free alerts first.
Brand24 is likely to fit when

✓ Marketing or PR teams and small agencies that want shared dashboards, sentiment and reports across many sources

✓ SaaS teams that track a brand name, product names and several competitors

✓ Readers who have run free alerts for a few weeks and found them too slow or too narrow

✓ Businesses that need alerts across social networks, news, blogs and forums in one place

Important limitations

— Local businesses with one name to watch and a few mentions each month

— Anyone still to try Google Alerts, Talkwalker Alerts or F5Bot

— Teams that want a vendor team to run reputation or crisis response for them

— Founders who only need Reddit or Hacker News alerts

Brand24 review: what it is, what it collects and how it works

Brand24 is a paid social listening and media monitoring tool at brand24.com. You enter keywords, such as your brand name, a product name, a competitor or an industry term, and it collects public mentions of them into a project dashboard with sentiment labels, reach figures, reports and alerts. The pricing page lists Facebook, Instagram, X, news, blogs, Reddit, LinkedIn, Medium, Quora, YouTube, TikTok, reviews, Twitch, newsletters and podcasts as sources.

One detail shapes what you get. The help center says a new project starts with a sample of the last 30 days of data, and that monitoring tools like Brand24 focus on collecting from the moment you set up a project rather than digging through years of history. This review reads the vendor's pricing page, features page, help center and terms as of October 24, 2026 and leaves plan amounts to the live pricing page.

What the plans count: keywords, mentions, users and speed

  • Keywords: the help center lists 3 on Individual, 7 on Team, 12 on Pro and 25 on Business, with Enterprise set per customer. Each word or phrase you enter counts as one keyword.
  • Mentions: the pricing page lists 2K a month on Individual, 10K on Team, 40K on Pro and 100K on Business. Its FAQ says mentions above the limit can carry overage fees at the rates in the Price List or your account settings.
  • Users: Individual includes 1 user, and Team and above list unlimited users.
  • Update speed: the page lists an update every 12 hours on Individual, every hour on Team and realtime updates on Pro and above.
  • AI features: sentiment analysis is listed on every plan. AI Events Detection and the AI Brand Assistant appear from Pro, and Smart Context Search is an add-on.
  • Annual billing: the Annually toggle carries an up-to-3-months-free label, and the FAQ says to subscribe annually you start the trial and then contact the vendor.

The 14-day trial and how to use it

The help center says the trial lasts 14 days, runs on Pro plan features, allows up to 10 keywords and 30k mentions, and refreshes data every 24 hours, with a cap of 100 mentions a day from Twitter or Instagram. The pricing page says no credit card is required. After 14 days you must choose a plan or access is restricted.

Run the trial on your own brand name and note how many mentions arrive in a week. The trial runs on a higher plan than Individual and allows more keywords, so compare what you saw with the keywords, update speed and AI features that your chosen plan lists. The Brand24 pricing guide shows how to size a plan.

Limits and risks: where the vendor's pages disagree

  • Refunds: the terms say a user is entitled to a refund of the fee up to one month back if the user makes no use of the service, while the pricing FAQ says subscription fees are generally non-refundable, with exceptions where required by law or agreed individually. Ask support to confirm in writing before you pay.
  • Renewal: the terms say card subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and cancellation is requested by email no later than 7 days before the next period starts.
  • Keyword changes: the terms allow each keyword to be changed up to 5 times in a subscription period.
  • History: the help center says data older than 30 days is not collected except in special cases, so a new project cannot show last year's conversation.
  • AI Visibility: the plan comparison lists an AI Visibility module as an add-on. That is a different job from brand listening and sits outside these guides.

Where Brand24 can work well, and who should pick something else

  • Fits: a marketing or PR team, or a small agency, that wants reports, sentiment, alerts and several teammates across social, news, blogs and forums in one dashboard.
  • Fits: a SaaS team that tracks a brand name, product names and a few competitors and needs more than the three keywords on the entry plan.
  • Start free instead: a local business watching one business name can begin with Google Alerts or Talkwalker Alerts, as brand monitoring tools for small business shows.
  • Consider a Reddit-first tool: if Reddit matters most, F5Bot has a free tier and Syften focuses on communities. How to track brand mentions on Reddit covers the free steps.

How to weigh the reviews you will find

Brand24's own reviews page shows customer quotes and summary numbers that the vendor chose to display, and its alternatives page is a comparison the vendor wrote. Neither is independent. Open the profiles on the review sites you trust, sort by newest and by lowest, and check whether complaints concern billing, support or the sources you need. Results, savings and customer counts quoted by vendors are the vendors' own claims and depend on each customer's setup, in line with the FTC's endorsement guides.
