Brand24 vs Mention: the main difference
Both tools search the public web and social networks for the keywords you set, then show mentions with sentiment, reach and reports. The difference is how each vendor frames the product. Brand24 publishes a fixed keyword count and monthly mention allowance for every plan. Mention's pricing page text describes a Company plan with a demo request and lists review monitoring, collaboration tools and add-ons for history and the API.
Readers also search the pair as Mention vs Brand24. The comparison is the same. Both vendors' pages were read on October 24, 2026, and amounts are left to those pages.
Side by side: what each vendor's pages state
- Sources: both name Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, news, blogs and forums. Brand24 also names LinkedIn, Medium, Quora, Twitch, newsletters and podcasts, and Mention names Pinterest and 75 plus review sites including Google, Trustpilot, Amazon and Glassdoor.
- Counting: Brand24 lists keywords, monthly mentions, users and update speed per plan. Mention's FAQ defines an alert as a keyword or set of keywords and a mention as a result, and the plan text read here is the Company plan, so confirm alert limits for any other tier on the live page.
- History: Brand24's help center says a project starts with a sample of the last 30 days. Mention's pages claim data up to 2 years, and the plan text lists historical data as a paid add-on.
- Team: Brand24 lists unlimited users from its Team plan. Mention lists team collaboration, multi-user access controls and white-label reporting on its Company plan.
- Trial: Brand24 offers 14 days with no credit card required. Mention offers a free trial and a demo, so check the trial length on its live page.
- Annual billing: Brand24 labels its Annually toggle up to 3 months free. Mention says paying yearly gets 2 months free.
What changed at Mention
Mention's home page carries a banner saying Agorapulse has acquired Mention. Its pricing FAQ says the Publish and Respond features are being progressively deprecated and names Agorapulse as the official solution for publishing and responding, yet its home page still describes an Engage area for scheduling and responding. Confirm the current scope with the vendor. Scheduling and posting are a separate decision that these guides leave out, and the ownership change is a reason to read Mention's current terms before a long commitment.
Which to choose, and when to pick neither
- Choose Brand24 if you want published allowances you can size against, a trial without a card and unlimited users from the second plan. The Brand24 review lists the limits.
- Choose Mention if review sites matter, if you want historical data as an add-on or if you already use or plan to use Agorapulse.
- Choose neither yet if you watch one name. Google Alerts and Talkwalker Alerts are free, as brand monitoring tools for small business shows.
- Consider Awario or Syften if you want a different counting method or a community focus; both are covered in the same guide.
Questions to ask both vendors before you pay
- How is a mention counted, and what happens when I pass the limit? Brand24's FAQ describes overage fees at the rates in its Price List.
- Is history included, and how far back does it go on my plan?
- What happens at renewal, and how do I cancel? Brand24's terms say card plans renew automatically and cancellation is requested by email no later than 7 days before the next period.
- Which sources need extra setup? Brand24's help center has a separate guide for Facebook and Instagram data.
